Adolescent, adult and couples therapy

Meet Heather
With over 15 years of experience, I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, ADHD, depression, mood disorders and grief. I work with tweens, teens and adults, bringing evidence-based techniques to each session. What sets my practice apart is the emphasis I place on building genuine, supportive relationships. My approach is warm, compassionate and often sprinkled with a bit of humour to make our work together both effective and enjoyable. The first step in our journey is a thorough assessment, which helps us understand your unique needs and equip you with the tools to face life’s challenges with greater confidence and well-being.
Experience the transformative power of comprehensive therapy today and rediscover hope and balance in your life.
Heather is centrally located in Olds and Drumheller, serving all of central Alberta with in-person and online appointments.

Frequently asked questions
Got questions? We’ve likely got the answers you’re looking for right here.
Your benefits or health spending account may cover some or all of a psychologist’s services, depending on your provider. Psychologists are recognized as medical practitioners by the Canada Revenue Agency for the purposes of the medical expense tax credit.
We don’t offer direct billing, but we can reach out to your provider to see if your benefits are accepted.
The fee is $235 per 50-minute session, and $330 for a 75-minute session, following the recommended fee schedule from the Psychologist Association of Alberta.
Currently, there are no sliding scale appointments available.
Yes! Virtual and phone appointments are available on our secure platform.
There are various types of counsellors, but the title “Counsellor” is not regulated. To be called a “Psychologist”, one must be registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and meet ongoing annual requirements. Psychologists can provide diagnoses, but cannot prescribe medication. A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor specializing in mental health, capable of providing diagnoses and prescribing medication, though most do not engage in ongoing therapy.
The frequency and duration of therapy varies greatly by individual. Weekly sessions are ideal and most effective. Acute conditions may require as few as 6-8 sessions, while couples and family therapy typically take longer. The American Psychology Association suggests that 15-20 sessions is a common timeframe.
Yes! My practice currently services individuals aged 12 and up. If you have a younger child, please reach out for a consultation. If I cannot meet your child’s needs, I will recommend another qualified professional.
This is not uncommon, and therapy is often less daunting than anticipated! I typically recommend trying three sessions; if it’s not a good fit, we can explore other options. There are also ways we can support you as a parent or spouse individually.
Yes! I am trained in both family and couple therapy. During the initial consultation, we will discuss your therapy options and determine if this is a good fit for you.
If you are wondering if you could benefit from therapy, it’s likely a good time to reach out. Therapy can be helpful if you are feeling emotionally dysregulated, numb, or if notice a pattern of disruptive relationships or unhealthy behaviors. There is no judgment in therapy; it’s a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions.
Each therapy experience is unique and tailored to individual needs after an initial assessment. While some sessions may involve education or direction, most are focused on raising awareness of thoughts and feelings that may be minimized, denied or completely unconscious. By creating a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment, we can work together to achieve your goals.
I am available weekdays and some evenings.
If you are in a psychiatric emergency, call 911 or the Alberta Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642.
A free consultation allows us to determine if I’m the right fit for you, ensuring you don’t waste time or money on the wrong service.
The first 1-3 sessions typically focus on assessment. This is a conversation to explore your presenting problems, their history, your strengths and your goals, rather than a formal assessment with testing.
